Widgets in Inventor
Inventor is a computer software that allows you to sketch and model 3D parts. With inventor you can download your models and use another software to print them. In our case we used Maker Bot. In inventor we modeled six one in by one inch cube designs called widgets. Then we printed one of our models out on the 3D printer using Maker Bot.
Sketches
Step By Step
First I went into inventor and clicked on the XY plane.
I extruded the cutouts 1in. |
Then I made a box and dimensioned it to 1in x 1in.
I made the triangle cut out by using the line tool.
|
Then I extruded it 1in.
I extruded the triangle 1in.
|
I used to line tool to make the cut outs.
Then I had a complete widget!

What I Learned
During this project I learned the basics of inventor and how to make 3D models with it. I also learned how to set up a 3D printer and put the filament in, and while watching the 3D printer print I learned more about how they work. Like how 3D printers need supports for ledges, and how it makes a base before it starts your print.
